The National Sedation Center certification program was designed and developed by healthcare professionals dedicated to improving patient safety by providing comprehensive, evidence-based education for the non-anesthesia healthcare provider who is administering sedation outside of the operating room. The National Sedation Center equips clinicians to minimize these risks through effective preparation and implementation of minimal and moderate sedation procedures within the boundaries of the sedation continuum.

Sedation Center

Foundational Knowledge: Adult Minimal Sedation

This course was developed for the practitioner providing sedation outside of the operating room and encompasses the fours levels of sedation. The focus of the course is on patient safety initiatives, promoting team communication/crew resource management, and understanding the concept that sedation is not a constant, it is a continuum.

Adult Moderate Sedation

This course was developed for the
non-anesthesia healthcare practitioner who is providing moderate procedural sedation and analgesia (PSA) procedures outside of the operating room. The course builds upon solid baseline knowledge, potentially provided by completion of the NSC Foundational Knowledge; Adult Minimal Sedation Course, or at the discretion of the facility.

NSC Certification

Upon completion of Adult Minimal and Moderate Sedation, NSC offers the first nationally recognized certification and primary source verification system, enabling providers privileged or employed at multiple facilities to fulfill their sedation credentialing obligations all from a single location, just as with ACLS or BLS. Endorsed by organizations such as the Colorado Society of Anesthesiology, this program meets all criteria necessary to fulfill the educational and certification needs for both adult minimal and moderate sedation in any clinical setting.
